Atomscale handles sensitive research and manufacturing data. This page covers what data we collect, how we protect your intellectual property, and the privacy controls available to you.
Last reviewed: July 2026. We review this policy at least annually and update it whenever our data practices change.

Data Ownership

Your data remains yours. Atomscale’s terms of service establish clear ownership boundaries:
  • Customer data ownership: All data you upload, generate, or derive within Atomscale belongs to your organization.
  • No training on customer data: Atomscale does not use your data to train models shared with other customers.
  • Full export rights: You can export your data at any time in standard, non-proprietary formats (CSV, JSON, TIFF, HDF5).
  • Deletion on request: When you delete data or close your account, your data is permanently removed from all systems, including backups, within 30 days.

Data We Collect

Customer Data

Data you upload or generate through the platform:

Platform Usage Data

Data generated by your use of the platform:
Usage metrics are aggregated and never include the contents of your research data. We track that an analysis was run, not what the analysis contained.

Data Isolation

Workspace-Level Isolation

Each organization’s data is logically isolated at the infrastructure level:

Cross-Organization Protections

Atomscale enforces strict boundaries between organizations:
  • No shared queries across organization boundaries
  • No data leakage through search, recommendations, or analytics
  • Separate encryption keys per organization
  • Independent audit logs per organization

Third-Party Sharing

Atomscale does not sell customer data or share it with third parties for marketing. Customer data leaves our systems only in these cases:
  • Infrastructure subprocessors: Data is stored and processed on cloud infrastructure (AWS) under encryption; subprocessors act on our instructions and cannot access your data for their own purposes.
  • AI assistant requests: When you invoke AI features, the relevant data excerpts are sent to the configured model provider to fulfill your request. Providers are contractually barred from training on this data.
  • Legal requirements: We disclose data only when required by law, and we notify affected customers unless legally prohibited.
Connecting an external client to your account (for example an MCP client such as Claude) authorizes that client to act as you; data returned to it is governed by that client’s own privacy terms.

Privacy Controls

Data Deletion

When you delete data from Atomscale:
  1. Immediate: Data is removed from the active database and becomes inaccessible.
  2. Within 24 hours: Data is purged from all caches and search indices.
  3. Within 30 days: Data is removed from encrypted backups.
For account closure, all organization data follows this same deletion timeline.

Data Export

Export your data at any time through:
  • The platform UI (individual files, datasets, or project-level exports)
  • The API (programmatic bulk export)
  • A formal data portability request to support@atomscale.ai
