Screen capture lets you record a window on your computer and stream frames to Atomscale in real time. This is currently used for RHEED data: frames are captured from your RHEED software window, uploaded continuously, and analyzed with the RHEED Fingerprinting workflow.

How to Stream

1

Open the Add Data dialog

Click Add Data in the sidebar, then select the Stream tab.
2

Choose a capture source

Click Choose source. Your browser will prompt you to select a window, screen, or tab to capture. Selecting from the Window section is recommended for best results.
3

Position the capture area

A live preview of your selected source appears. Drag and resize the capture area overlay to frame the region you want to record.
4

Configure stream settings

Fill in the configuration form:
FieldDescription
Data NameDefaults to “RHEED Stream @ [Date]”. Change it to something descriptive.
Physical SampleOptionally associate the stream with a sample.
WorkflowCurrently fixed to RHEED Fingerprinting.
Stage Rotation (rpm)Set the rotation speed for rotating-stage growths. Leave empty for stationary RHEED.
5

Start streaming

Click Start Stream. Frames are captured and uploaded in the background.
6

Control the recording

While streaming you can Pause, Resume, or End Stream. An elapsed-time timer is displayed in the controls.
You can close the Add Data dialog while a stream is active. The recording continues in the background, and the sidebar button shows the stream status.

Interrupted Streams

If a stream is interrupted (for example, by closing the browser tab), Atomscale detects the incomplete stream. The next time you open the Stream tab, you will be prompted to resume or discard it.
